WHITEWATER, Wis. - The Elmhurst College wrestling team, ranked 14th in the latest NWCA poll, moved to 10-4 in dual meet competition after posting a 1-2 record at the Border Brawl at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater.
Elmhurst opened the meet with a 43-6 win over Concordia University (Wis.). The Bluejays 26-15 to eighth-ranked Wisconsin-Stevens Point, and then dropped a 24-18 dual to fifth-ranked Wisconsin-Whitewater.
In the win over Concordia, the Bluejays won eight of the 10 matches with Jake Oster (125 pounds), Jake Denhof (133 pounds), and Mark Corsello (285 pounds) all scoring wins by pinfall.
In the loss to UW-Stevens Point, Oster scored his second straight win by pin at 125 pounds. Charlie Curran scored an 8-7 win over Kris Magruder at 149 pounds while Tony Doan topped Andrew Dilworth 5-3 at 157 pounds. Corsello defeated Chad Gregory 4-3 at 285 pounds to account for the Bluejays' final points.
In the dual against the host Warhawks, Oster and Denhof scored back-to-back wins at 125 pounds, and 133 pounds, respectively. Curran scored a 7-2 win over Matt Schuck at 149 pounds while Corsello pinned second-ranked Jon Schmidt in 42 seconds.
