Elmhurst University Athletics

Mark Magro is entering his seventh season as assistant coach with the Elmhurst softball team.

A lifelong baseball player, Magro has coached grammar school basketball and volleyball, and both in-house and travel baseball and softball in the Downers Grove community from ages seven to 18.

Magro spent eight seasons as the head softball coach at Downers Grove North High School where he had an impressive 193-88 overall record. His squads were ranked among the top-10 in the state for his final four seasons with the team posting a 116-30 record in that time. His squads won four straight conference championships in the West Suburban Silver Conference. The team also won three regional titles and scored its first sectional victory in school history.

Magro works for a trading firm in downtown Chicago and has lived in Downers Grove for 32 years. He and his wife, Suzanne, have three children; Amy, Nicholas, and Ben.
