Kyle Flores

Kyle Flores joined the Elmhurst University track and field & cross country coaching staff in July 2025 as the associate head coach for track and field and cross country.

Flores brings a decorated NCAA Division III coaching background to the Bluejays, with national championship experience and a strong record of athlete development. Prior to Elmhurst, he served as the head cross country coach at Augustana College from 2023-2025. Before that, he led the men’s cross country and track and field programs at Pomona-Pitzer Colleges from 2021 to 2023, following four years as an assistant coach and recruiting coordinator for the Sagehens.
His teams captured the 2019 and 2021 NCAA Division III Men’s Cross Country National Championships, qualified for multiple NCAA meets, and won three NCAA West Region titles and two SCIAC conference championships.

During his career, Flores has coached 16 All-Americans, 16 school record holders, and 26 USTFCCCA All-Academic Award winners. His training programs have produced a former Division III national record holder in the steeplechase and dozens of nationally competitive performances in events ranging from the 800 meters to the 10K. In total, he has coached 22 sub-15:00 5K runners and 12 runners under 24:30 for 8K cross country.

Flores is a two-time SCIAC Cross Country Coach of the Year (2021, 2022), a two-time West Region Coach of the Year, and was named the 2021 NCAA Division III National Cross Country Coach of the Year. In 2023, he earned Stride Report Division III Distance Coach of the Year honors.

A former standout distance runner himself, Flores competed for Grand Valley State University, where he was a four-time All-GLIAC honoree and a member of two NCAA Division II national runner-up teams. He earned a bachelor’s degree in clinical exercise science from GVSU in 2017 and is currently pursuing a master’s degree in applied sport psychology from Northern Michigan University.
