ELMHURST, Ill. — The Elmhurst University women's soccer team defeated St. Norbert College, 2-0, on Saturday night at Langhorst Field.
Elmhurst (2-0) controlled play throughout the match, finishing with a 19-2 advantage in shots and a 7-0 edge in corner kicks.
The Bluejays put themselves on the scoreboard in the 27th minute when
Kelli Coughlin converted a penalty kick to give Elmhurst a 1-0 lead.
Three minutes later, Elmhurst found the back of the net once again.
Ailani Zires scored in the 30th minute off an assist from
Alaina Clark to put the Bluejays ahead 2-0.
Elmhurst's defense kept St. Norbert (1-2) off the scoreboard for the remainder of the match. The Green Knights managed just two shots, none of which came in the second half.
Erin Fitzharris made one save at 61:21 in goal before
Sequoia Ross entered in the second half. The Bluejays have not allowed a goal through their first two matches of the season.
