Elmhurst dropped a 63–50 decision to Carroll (WI) on Tuesday night at R.A. Faganel Hall in a conference matchup. The Bluejays kept the game within reach early, separating a 14–11 lead after the opening quarter, while Carroll used the second and third quarter to build separation and control the final outcome.
The Bluejays opened the game efficiently, shooting 50 percent from the field in the first quarter. Carroll responded in the second period, to take a 30–23 lead into halftime. The Bluejays responded with grit in the third quarter but were unable to close the gap, as Carroll extended their advantage to 50–38 heading into the final frame.
Kristin Bukata led Elmhurst with 17 points, adding five assists and two steals while playing all 40 minutes. Sierra Gibson turned in a balanced performance with nine points and four rebounds, while Natalie Harty contributed seven points and one assist. Natalie Robinson anchored the glass with a team-high 10 rebounds and added six points.
Despite the outcome, a major milestone for Sierra Gibson occurred tonight, where she surpassed the 1,200-career point mark. Gibson reached the milestone by combining her scoring from her first two collegiate seasons (858 PTS) with her performances at Elmhurst University (342 PTS).
Elmhurst finished the night with a 29 total rebounding effort and forced 15 turnovers, converting those into 11 points. The Bluejays also held an advantage in fast break scoring, 8–1, and received 14 points from the bench. Despite the final margin, Elmhurst stayed competitive with six lead changes and three ties over the course of the game.
