GAME TWO | TRANSYLVANIA 7, ELMHURST 1
Elmhurst fell to Transylvania University with a final score of 7-1 in the second game of the day. Despite a strong defensive effort, Elmhurst struggled to generate offense, managing just two hits throughout the game. Transylvania took advantage of timely hits and aggressive baserunning to secure the win. Elmhurst's lone run came in the third inning, but it wasn't enough to overcome Transylvania's consistent scoring.
Chiara O'Leary led the offensive effort for Elmhurst, going 1-for-2 with a walk and driving in the team's only run. Gianna Amundsen also recorded a hit with a double. On the mound, Kaylee Aimone, Chiara O'Leary, and Danielle Hood combined to pitch six innings, allowing a total of six hits and seven runs (six earned) while striking out five batters.
Transylvania took an early 1-0 lead in the first inning on a groundout that scored a runner from third. Elmhurst had runners in scoring position but failed to capitalize. Both teams were held scoreless in the second inning, with Elmhurst's Kaylee Aimone recording two strikeouts. In the third inning, Elmhurst tied the game at 1-1 as Chiara O'Leary drove in Ilyssa Calderon with a single to center. However, Transylvania quickly regained the lead, scoring two runs on a passed ball and a steal of home to make it 3-1.
The fourth inning saw Transylvania add three more runs, capitalizing on an error and a pair of steals to extend the lead to 6-1. Both teams went scoreless in the fifth inning as Elmhurst was unable to break through against solid pitching. Transylvania tacked on one final insurance run in the sixth inning on a groundout that scored a runner from third, making it 7-1. In the seventh and final inning, Elmhurst failed to mount a comeback as the final three batters were retired in order.
