KENOSHA, Wis. - The Elmhurst University women's wrestling team took on their final duals of the 2024-25 season on Thursday (Feb. 13), falling in a CCIW matchup to Carthage, 35-10, and competing in an exhibition with Joliet Junior College.
The Firebirds built an early lead with Kirsten Cortez (103 lbs.), Alaina Hollendoner (124 lbs.), Jennifer Villagomez (131 lbs.), Madison Cook (138 lbs.), and Margaret Anders (145 lbs.) all winning by forfeit. Carthage also picked up key falls, with Karina Torres (110 lbs.) pinning
Veronica Cosio in just 1:08, and Natalie Majer (117 lbs.) securing a pin in 32 seconds over
Zeel Mody.
Despite the deficit, Elmhurst showed resilience, highlighted by
Clara Rice (160 lbs.), who earned the fastest fall of the night, pinning Adele Senzig in just 21 seconds.
Yareli Ortega (180 lbs.) also added to Elmhurst's effort with a forfeit victory. While the 207-pound match ended in a double forfeit.
Elmhurst competed against JJC, falling 20-10.
