ELMHURST, Ill. - In the first-ever women's wrestling dual meet held inside R.A. Faganel Hall, the Bluejays fell to Manchester University, 45-4.

The dual began with Manchester's Kyleigh Honaker scoring a quick technical fall over Evalinda Castrejon at 103 pounds. Jackeline Shackleford added to Manchester's lead with a first-period pin at 110 pounds. However, Elmhurst's Veronica Cosio shone at 117 pounds, earning an impressive 12-2 technical fall victory over Katie Dowell to put Elmhurst on the board and earn the first Bluejay match win on their home mat in program history.

Manchester then took forefits at 124, 131, 138, and 145 , but Elmhurst continued to fight hard in contested matches. Yareli Ortega and Clara Rice stepped onto the mat with determination, facing strong competition from Manchester. Ortega pushed her opponent, and Rice gave a valiant effort later in the meet.

The exhibitions provided Elmhurst with more opportunities to highlight their talent. Cosio secured her second win of the evening, defeating Manchester's Jackeline Shackleford in a thrilling 14-9 decision. Rice also closed the night on a high note for Elmhurst, earning a dominant 12-2 technical fall over Tessa Allen in the 160-pound exhibition match.
