RIVER FOREST, Ill. -Â The Elmhurst University men's tennis team won their first match of the season Friday afternoon, taking down Concordia Chicago on the road by a score of 6-1.
Elmhurst (1-0) took care of the doubles point, taking two of those three matches, and took five of six singles matches to take down the Cougars (0-1) on their home court.
In doubles, the team of
Russell Reyes and
Emiliano Montenegro-Galarza won their match, 7-5, while
Cory Freed and Charalampos Vasiliopoulos made quick work at No. 2 doubles, winning 6-2.
Singles started strong for Montenegro-Galarza, taking a pair of 6-0 wins to take his match at No. 2 singles, while both Freed and Vasiliopoulos took their matches in straight-sets on No. 3 and 5 singles.
Giannis Varsamis had to fight in a third set at No. 4 singles, but took set three 10-7 to win (6-2, 4-6, 10-7).
Adrian Songco wrapped up Elmhurst's points with a 7-6, 6-3 win on No. 6 singles.

The Bluejays are back at home this Sunday, Sept. 15, hosting Elgin Community College at 11:00 a.m.
