ELMHURST, Ill. -Â The Elmhurst University softball team dropped game one of a doubleheader against Wheaton College, 2-5, before having its second game suspended due to darkness.
Elmhurst (9-12, 0-3 CCIW) performed well early, leading 2-1 through four innings, but a four spot by the Thunder offense in the fifth soured Elmhurst's conference home opener, leading to a 2-5 loss.
Elmhurst was led by a pair of hits from both
Bailley Harveth and
Gianna Amundsen, with
Ilyssa Calderon tallying the only RBI for the Jays in game one, while
Chiara O'Leary took the loss in the circle.
Game two was knotted at one run each heading into the top of the ninth inning before the game was suspended due darkness. The two teams will get back together at Salt Creek Park on Monday, April 15 at 5:30 p.m. to finish the game in progress.
