ELMHURST, Ill. - The Elmhurst University men's tennis team competed against Concordia University Chicago Friday afternoon in a match that was moved indoors and ultimately unfinished due to limited court time. When play wrapped, both teams were tied at four points each.
In doubles action, the team of
Ben Cavka and
Emiliano Montenegro-Galarza secured the first point for the Bluejays with an 8-4 win at No. 1 doubles, but Elmhurst dropped both of the other doubles contests to go down, 2-1, heading into singles action.
With defaulted wins by the Cougars at No. 5 and 6 singles pushing them to a 4-1 lead, the Bluejays would mount a strong comeback. Cavka (6-2, 6-3) and Montenegro-Galarza (6-3, 6-1) would take care of business at the first two courts, while
Giannis Varsamis would win his match at No. 4 singles by a score of 6-1, 6-3, before
Muhammad Salman's match at No. 3 singles was halted for the day.
