MONTGOMERY, Ill. -Â The Elmhurst University softball team dropped both ends of a doubleheader to Aurora University Saturday afternoon at Bedrosian Stadium.
Elmhurst (1-3) was unable to generate much offense on the day, scoring just five runs compared to Aurora's 21 across both games, with both ending early of seven innings due to the run-rule.
In game one, Aurora (10-1) jumped out to a 5-0 lead after the first inning, but the Bluejays bounced back with a pair of runs in the third thanks to a wild pitch and a
Gianna Amundsen single. The home team would go on to score two more in the bottom of the third, and three in the fifth to finish the game in five innings due to the run-rule, 2-10.
In game two, Elmhurst jumped out to an early 1-0 lead from a
Grace Hayes single, but Aurora would grab the 2-1 lead following the second inning. In the fourth, Elmhurst fought back to knot the game on an RBI single from
Brenna Morley, but four runs in the fourth blew the game open yet again, and the game ended in the sixth inning after the Spartans scored four runs, with the final being 3-11.
