WHEATON, Ill. - The Elmhurst University men's wrestling team took down CCIW foe Wheaton College, 22-19, Thursday evening at King Arena.
Elmhurst (8-5, 5-4 CCIW) built a solid 16-7 lead through the match at 165, with
Jake Mora (MD), Zach Kolb (MD),
Mataeo Blessing (TF), and
Jeff Nugent (Dec.) earning victories to help the Elmhurst lead. However, after the Thunder took the 174-pound match by fall and an Elmhurst forefit gave the Thunder six points, the dual was tied at 19 heading into the heavyweight bout.
In the heavyweight bout,
Andre Hunt gave the Bluejays the victory thanks to a 6-0 decision over Joseph Kruse, pushing the Jays to a three-point victory.
Overall, the Jays won six of the evenings ten matches, with Mora, Kolb, Blessing, Nugent,
Colin O'Neill, and Hunt earning individual victories for the team.
