ELMHURST, Ill. - The Elmhurst University women's soccer team hosted conference opponent North Park on Wednesday night at Langhorst Field.Â
The Bluejays (7-6-2, 2-2-0 CCIW), lone goal scorer wasÂ
Michelle Cuervo in the 81'. While
Erin Fitzharris made eight saves and earned a clean sheet tonight.Â
The Vikings (4-6-1, 0-2-1 CCIW), were held to no goals while goalkeeper Philemina Toca made three saves on the night.Â
North Park controllede the pace of play for almost all of the game as the Bluejays were playing to the counter-attack. With no goals for either side in the first half the Vikings led with 10 shots to the Bluejays three. In the second half the Vikings would continue to add pressure to the Bluejays as they ended with 16 shots in the second half. Cuervo was able to put a bouncing ball in the box right between the legs of the goalkeeper to give the Jays a 1-0 lead in the 81'. With a ton of pressure from the Vikings in the last 10 minutes the Bluejays were able to hold them off to win their second conference game of the season.Â
