KENOSHA , Wis. - The Elmhurst University women's soccer team secured a CCIW tournament spot with their win over Carthage College on Saturday afternoon.
The Bluejays (9-7-2, 4-3 CCIW), lone goal came from
MaiLei Garcia and was assisted by
Lauren Nevins in the 76'. While goalkeeper
Erin Fitzharris was able to make seven saves and earn the clean sheet.
The Firebirds ( 5-7-4, 1-6 CCIW), were led by Kate Summer as she had two shots on goal for the Firebirds.
The Firebirds held control over most of this game especially in the first half as the Bluejays were only able to muster one shot in the first half compared to the Firebirds eight. The second half was more of a middle ground game as both teams only had three shots in the second half, with help from Garcia having the only shot on goal for the Bluejays, they were able to take a 1-0 victory home and secure a CCIW tournament appearance.
UP NEXT
The Bluejays will play their last regular season game at Augustana College on Wednesday, Oct. 30th at 7:00pm CT. CCIW Tournament play will start the following week as they look to determine if they will host or travel for the first round match-up.
