ELMHURST Ill. - The Elmhurst University women's soccer team fell in their first game of the season, 0-1, to Dominican University Friday night at Langhorst Field.
The Bluejays (0-1) were led by
Kelli Coughlin, who scored her first collegiate goal, while
Kendal Freischlag tallied one assist on the evening.
Celeste Chapa and
Ellie Muscarello also tallied shots in the opening matchup of the 2023 campaign. As a team, the Bluejays recorded four shots on the evening and lined up five corner kicks.
Dominican (1-0) scored two goals on the evening, with Olivia Darrow and Regan Coxon finding the back of the net for the Stars.
The Bluejays opened the scoring in the first half with a set-piece goal from Coughlin, but the Stars found an equalizer just before the end of the first half, sending the two teams tied into the break.
Dominican opened the second half with an early score and never looked back, keeping the Bluejays scoreless in the second half.

Next stop for the Bluejays will be in Olivet, Mich. where they will take on The University of Olivet in their road opener on Sunday, September 3rd at 1:30pm.
