MONTGOMERY, Ill. -Â The Elmhurst University softball team dropped a non-conference doubleheader at Aurora University Wednesday evening.
Elmhurst (10-11, 3-1 CCIW) kept both games close, with the Bluejays heading into the sixth inning of game one tied at one, and taking a 2-1 lead in the top of the sixth, before letting up six runs in the bottom half of the inning to fall 2-10 in run-rule fashion.
Maddie Trost tallied both RBI in game one for the Bluejays, going 1-for-2 in the contest. Freshman
Megan Wilson suffered the loss to drop to 0-1 on the season after giving up nine hits and five runs (three earned runs), garnering three strikeouts in her outing.
In game two, the Bluejays jumped ahead 1-0 in the second after an RBI groundout from
Ali Mockenhaupt, and kept the Spartans at bay in the bottom half of the inning. However, a pair of runs in the third and an insurance run in the sixth allowed Aurora to pull away for a 4-1 victory, sweeping the doubleheader.
Brianna Pisauro pitched all six innings for the Bluejays, giving up siz hits and three runs while adding a pair of strikeouts to drop to 5-4 on the season in the circle. The Bluejays garnered just two hits in the finale, with Trost and
Reese Coon providing the offense for the Bluejays.
UP NEXT
Elmhurst will resume CCIW action this Saturday, April 15, hosting Augustana College (IL) for a doubleheader beginning at 1:00 p.m. at Salt Creek Park.
