ELMHURST, Ill. – The Elmhurst University women's basketball fell in R.A. Faganel Hall to Carroll University, 88-49.
The Bluejays trailed by just three points at the end of the opening quarter, 21-18, but the Pioneers outscored Elmhurst by 14 points in the second quarter to head into the locker room at the half with a 47-30 lead.
Carroll (15-7/10-3 CCIW) used a 41-point second half to help them secure the second spot in the CCIW.
Elmhurst (3-18/1-12 CCIW) was led by
Katie Matrise who finished with 16 points.
Anna Kleszynski added in three three-pointers, while
Payton Schmidt chipped in six points in the loss for the Bluejays.
The Pioneers were led by Olivia Rangel with 20 points and seven rebounds, while Natalie Palzkill contributed 10 points and five steals. Emilie Wizner came off the bench to add in 11 points, while teammates Lauren Soyke and Chloe Halverson finished with eight points apiece and six and three boards respectively.
Carroll shot 50.0 percent (36-of-72) from the field, while Elmhurst shot 34.7 percent (17-of-49).
The Pioneers scored 41 of their 88 points from 27 Bluejay turnovers.
