NASHVILLE, Tenn. - The Elmhurst University men's wrestling team earned three dual match victories Saturday morning/afternoon at the 10th-annual Gator 'Boots' Duals hosted by Luther College.
Elmhurst (5-2, 2-1 CCIW) earned a 3-1 record on the day in four matches, with
Troy Mock and
David Ortiz leading the Bluejays, with each student-athlete wrestling to a perfect 4-0 record on the day.
Elmhurst began the event with a 35-11 victory over Huntingdon College, winning eight of the ten matches in the first dual. Elmhurst's second-round match ended in an 8-33 defeat, but the Bluejays were able to bounce back with a 30-12 win over Manchester University.
In the final match against Trine University, Elmhurst found themselves down 17-22 heading into the final two matches.
Colin O'Neill and Ortiz were able to pick up decision victories to tie the match at 22-all after matches were completed, and the Bluejays won the match by criteria due to Elmhurst winning the majority of matches (six).

Elmhurst returns to action on Thursday, Jan. 11, facing off against North Central College in a CCIW road dual at 7:00 p.m. CT.
