ELMHURST, Ill. - The Elmhurst University men's tennis team shutout Concordia University-Chicago 9-0 at the Brune Tennis Courts.
Elmhurst improved to 7-9 overall with the victory while Concordia fell to 0-11.
The Bluejays opened by sweeping the three doubles contests.
Tomas Bella and Brandon Fullmer dispatched Peter Rios and Joshua Wright 8-2 at No. 1.
Ben Cavka and
Russell Reyes followed with an 8-2 win over Caleb Gustafson and Scott Engler at No. 2.
Yannis Varsamis and
Justin Penados finished the doubles sweep with an 8-0 win over Alan Martinez and Andrew Schroeder at No. 3.
The Bluejays won all six singles matches to finish the sweep. Bell defeated Rios 6-2, 6-1 at No.1. Penados and Cavka both scored shutout wins at No. 2 and No. 3, respectively. Penados toppled Gustafson 6-0, 6-0 while Cavka defeated Engler 6-0, 6-0.
Fulmer toppled Wright 6-2, 6-1 at No. 4 while Reyes scored a 6-0, 6-1 win over Martinez at No. 5. Varsamis added a 6-1, 6-2 win over Schroeder at No. 6.
