KENOSHA, Wis. – The Elmhurst University women's basketball team closed out the 2021-22 season at Carthage College, falling 56-37.
The Bluejays trailed 13-7 at the end of the first quarter. Elmhurst (3-22) posted its highest scoring quarter in the second with 13 points to head into the locker room down 31-20.Â
Carthage (11-14) outscored Elmhurst 25-17 in the second half to end its season with a win.
Elmhurst was led by
Marissa Urso with 10 points and four rebounds.
Kate Matthews added in nine points and six boards, while teammate
Ella Riley connected on 3-of-5 attempts from behind the arc for nine points.
Taylor Harazin finished with a game-high 10 rebounds.
The Firebirds were led by Addison Ebeling with 14 points and four rebounds. Ayanna Ester chipped in 11 points, nine of which came from behind the arc. Kelsey Coshun added in nine points and eight rebounds in the win, while Lauren Knight finished with seven points and a game-high four assists.
Carthage outshot Elmhurst 31.3 percent (20-of-64) to 24.6 percent (14-of-57) from the field. The Bluejays fared better from behind the arc shooting 28.6 percent (8-of-28) to the Firebirds 27.6 percent (8-of-29).
