MEQUON, Wis. - The Elmhurst University wrestling team dropped a tightly contested dual to Concordia University (Wis.) Thursday evening, falling 16-22 in a meet that was decided in the final match of the evening.

The Bluejays (1-3, 1-3 CCIW) jumped out to an 8-0 lead thanks to a 3-1 sudden victory from Dominic Iannantone at 125 and a 17-1 technical fall from Justin Hames at 133. The Falcons (4-0) then rallied off three-straight match victories to take a 12-8 lead halfway through the meet.

Elmhurst followed with two-straight match victories from Jeff Nugent at 165, defeating Bryce Claypool of Concordia (Wis.) by fall just a minute into the match, while Joe Caringella won by a 10-5 decision to give the Bluejays a 17-12 lead with three matches to go.

The Falcons won the next two matches at 184 and 197 to move the score to 16-19 in favor of the home team, with the meet being decided in the 285 match between Roberto Pena and Dalton Sell, but Concordia (Wis.) was able to take the final match by decision to seal the 16-22 victory.
