ELMHURST, Ill. – The Elmhurst wrestling team defeated Wheaton College 27-17 in a CCIW dual meet at R.A. Faganel Hall.
 
The Bluejays won six of the 10 matches wrestled on route to the 10-point victory.

Wheaton started with three points after Giovany Armira earned a late near fall to defeat Elmhurst's Dominic Iannantone 5-4. Elmhurst answered back with four straight victories. Justin Hames scored an 18-0 technical fall over Matthew Au at 133 pounds. Jimmy McAuliffe followed with a 16-3 major decision over Ethan Harsted at 141 pounds. Jacob Reece pinned Ben Black in 3:50 to put the Bluejays in front 15-3. Zach Kolb earned a 6-5 victory over Charlie Owens at 157 pounds to give Elmhurst an 18-3 advantage in the dual.
 
Caele Manley scored a late reversal to end Elmhurst's winning streak. Manley topped Elmhurst's Joe Caringella 9-7 at 165 pounds. Hunter Harrison scored a technical fall over the Bluejays' Norbert Crecan at 174 pounds to move the Thunder to within seven points at 18-11. Wrestling his final match at R.A. Faganel Hall, Elmhurst senior Nevin Brittain defeated Natan Jara 8-3 at 184 pounds to give the Bluejays a 21-11 lead.

Wheaton made it interesting down the stretch though as Ben Lokos pinned Scott Anderson at 197 pounds to bring the Thunder to within four points at 21-17. Roberto Pena locked up the dual for the Bluejays by pinning Wheaton's Jacob Murrie in 28 seconds at 285 pounds.
