RIVER FOREST, Ill. – The Elmhurst softball team moved to 6-7 on the season after splitting a doubleheader with Concordia University-Chicago. The Bluejays opened with a 7-0 win in game one before falling 6-1 in the night cap.

ELMHURST 7, CONCORDIA 0 (Game One) – Emily Despain pitched a complete game shutout while the Elmhurst offense banged out 11 hits to score the game one victory.

Elmhurst jumped in front quickly, scoring three times in the first inning.
Alexis Ramos doubled home a run and
Rebekah Ondracek followed with a two-run homer to center to stake the Bluejays to a quick 3-0 lead.

Mia Tran doubled home a run in the second and
Jackie Orel doubled in a run in the third as the Bluejays doubled their lead to 6-0 in the process. Ondracek added a run-scoring double in the seventh to account for Elmhurst's final run.

Ondracek , Tran, Ramos and Orel finished with two hits apiece to lead Elmhurst at the plate. Ondracek knocked in three for the Bluejays in the win.

Despain ran her record to 4-1 on the season with a dominant performance from the circle. Despain went the distance, allowing just three hits over seven innings. She did not issue a walk and struck out a season high 11.

CONCORDIA 6, ELMHURST 1 (Game Two) – Concordia scored five runs in the third inning while Karlee Knight worked five innings from the circle to lead the Cougars past Elmhurst in game two.

Elmhurst grabbed a 1-0 lead in the first when Tran came home to score on a Cougars' fielding error.

Concordia moved in front for good in the third inning, scoring five times. Sydney Sterrett helped key the inning for Concordia with a two-run single. The Cougars added an insurance run in the fifth to pull away for the five-run victory.
Tran led Elmhurst at the plate, collecting two of the Bluejays' seven hits.

Knight worked five innings to pick up the win for the Cougars. She allowed six hits and one unearned run while walking one and striking out one.
Sydni Gizynski took the loss for Elmhurst despite striking out seven. She worked three innings and allowed five hits and three earned runs.
Bailee Krantz pitched the final three innings for Elmhurst, allowing two hits and one run. Krantz walked one and fanned one.

Elmhurst opens CCIW play on Saturday, April 6, by hosting Carthage College at Salt Creek Park.
