BLOOMINGTON, Ill. – The Elmhurst men's tennis team opened the CCIW portion of its 2019 schedule with a 5-4 win over Illinois Wesleyan University.
Elmhurst upped its record to 3-4 overall with the win while Illinois Wesleyan fell to 2-4 overall and 0-1 in league play.

Elmhurst won two of the three doubles matches before the two teams split the six singles contests.

In doubles action,
Grant O'Connell and
Lance Maharry teamed to defeat Justin Piotrowski and Tim Hughes 8-1 at No. 2 doubles.
Tavious Imperial and
Chris Wallaced stopped IWU's duo of Michael Behrensmeyer and Cole Hundman 8-4 at No. 3 doubles.

In singles play, Elmhurst scored wins at No. 2, No. 3 and No. 5 singles to earn the victory.
Shawn Sabaricos edged Ryan Yoo 7-5, 6-4 at No. 2 while Maharry defeated Hughes 6-1, 6-4 at No. 4. Wallace defeated Behrensmeyer 6-1, 6-2 at No. 5.
