Box Score CHICAGO, Ill. - The Elmhurst women's basketball team finished North Park University's Tournament unbeaten by defeating Buena Vista University 70-60.
The Bluejays (3-2) went on a 9-0 run to start the first quarter against Buena Vista (1-4), but the Beavers came back to end the quarter to trail Elmhurst by just three at 17-14. Elmhurst's fouls hurt them in the first half, allowing Buena Vista to shoot 10-of-13 (76.9%) from the free throw line. and help the Beavers build a 34-31 headed into the locker room at halftime.
Kween Jean went 3-of-4 and totaled six points to lead the Bluejays in the third quarter to help put the Bluejays up 54-51 headed to the fourth quarter. The Bluejays went 7-of-11 from the free throw line and outscored the Beavers 16-9 in the fourth quarter to finish off the game and pick up their third straight win.
Jocelyn Jacob shot 7-of-14 from the field and 3-of-8 from beyond the arc to lead the Bluejays. Jacob finished with 20 points and three rebounds on the day.
Lauren Goff and Jean totaled 13 points each to help the Bluejays earn the victory.
Becca Gerke came off the bench shooting 55 percent from the field and recording 10 points and nine rebounds. Elmhurst shot 45 percent from the field and 35.3 percent from the 3-point arc on the day.
The Beavers were led by Destiny Einerwold's 13 points and four rebounds on the day. Jennifer Schneider and Nicole Lange had nine points apiece for their squad. Buena Vista recorded a 76.2 percentage from the free throw line and shot 32.2 percent from the field.
The Bluejays will return to action before the holiday break when they face University of Wisconsin-Whitewater, Tuesday (November 26, 2019) at 7:00 P.M. on the road.
