CHICAGO, Ill. - The Elmhurst softball team closed the book on its 2018 season with a 5-1 win at the University of Chicago.
Elmhurst finished the 2018 season with a 16-19 overall record.Â
Chicago (20-17) jumped out to a 1-0 lead with a run in the bottom of the second, but Elmhurst broke through in the top of the fifth. The Bluejays capitalized on a pair of misplays by the Maroons to score two unearned runs.Â
The Bluejays made it 3-1 in the sixth after
Faith Thompson knocked in a run with a sacrifice fly.
Alyssa Ressinger's two-run single in the top of the seventh tacked on a pair of insurance runs for Elmhurst.Â
Veronica Zahn and Ressinger finished with two hits apiece to lead the Bluejays at the plate.Â
Bailee Krantz picked up the win for the Bluejays from the circle. Krantz tossed a complete game, scattering seven hits and two walks while allowing just one earned run.Â
