KENOSHA, Wis. - The Elmhurst women's basketball team slipped to 4-3 in the CCIW following a 71-67 overtime loss at Carthage College .

Carthage (10-5, 3-3 CCIW) scored the game's first 10 points and led for almost the entire regulation time. The Lady Reds led 16-10 after one quarter and 30-24 at the half. Elmhurst cut the deficit down to four points after three quarters. 

The Bluejays trailed by five points with 5:13 remaining, but Carthage did not score for the remainder of regulation, opening the door for the Bluejays. A Mikaela Eppard bucket with three minutes remaining, cut the lead down to three. Kelly Weyhrich drained a game-tying three-pointer with five seconds left to play to send the game to overtime even at 58-58. 

In the extra time, the Bluejays took their first lead of the contest, building a 63-59 lead with 3:45 remaining following a Kaela Jones three-pointer. Carthage responded by scoring the next 10 points over three minutes, taking a 69-63 lead in the process. A Lisa Logan three-pointer brought Elmhurst to within three with 38 seconds left on the clock, but Carthage sealed the win from the foul line. 

Elmhurst (8-8 overall) shot 40.3 percent (27-of-66) from the floor while outrebounding Carthage 48-33. Eppard led the way for Elmhurst with 21 points and 14 rebounds. Hannah Henderson added 12 points, eight boards and four assists while Jones finished with 17 points. 

Carthage was led by Madie Kaelber's 28-point performance. Bailey Gilbert scored 16 for Carthage. 

Elmhurst plays host to North Central College, next Saturday, January 20.
