BLOOMINGTON, Ill. – The Elmhurst softball team slipped to 10-14 on the season after dropping both ends of a doubleheader at Illinois Wesleyan University.
Illinois Wesleyan (20-10, 5-5 CCIW)  shutout Elmhurst (1-5 CCIW) 8-0 in the opener before rallying from a 2-0 deficit to take game two 6-2.
 
ILLINOIS WESLEYAN 8, ELMHURST 0 (Game One) – Elmhurst struggled at the plate and in the field, totaling just four hits while committing five errors in an 8-0 game one loss in six innings.
 
Illinois Wesleyan jumped on the scoreboard early, plating four runs in the bottom of the first on four hits and a pair of Elmhurst errors. The Titans added a run on a Jillian Runyon RBI single in the fourth to extend their lead to 5-0. Illinois Wesleyan was able to end the game in the sixth, taking advantage of three Elmhurst errors to score three runs and earn the eight-run victory.
 
Stephanie Sturino recorded two of Elmhurst's four hits in the loss.

Val Perrelli finished with a hit apiece for the Bluejays. Julie Josten led the Titans, finishing 2-for-2 with two runs scored and an RBI.
 
Emily Despain took the loss for the Bluejays, surrendering eight hits and three earned runs in 5.1 innings of work. Brea Walker picked up the win for the Titans, allowing just four hits and one walk with four strikeouts.
 
ILLINOIS WESLEYAN 6, ELMHURST 2 (Game Two) – Elmhurst led 2-0 after five innings, but the Titans scored two in the sixth and four in the seventh earn the 6-2 doubleheader sweep.
Mikayla Melone put Elmhurst on the scoreboard in the third with an RBI single. 
Rebekah Ondracek blasted a solo homer in the fourth to extend the Bluejays' lead to 2-0.
 
Illinois Wesleyan used a sacrifice fly from Shelby Fulk and an RBI single from Josten in the sixth to pull even at 2-2. The Titans broke things open in the seventh. Jillian Runyon started the scoring with an RBI triple. Sydney Alery and Sam Berghoff added RBIs in the inning as the Titans pulled away for the victory.
 
Ondracek paced Elmhurst at the plate with two hits and an RBI.
 
Stefanie Sanidas took the loss for Elmhurst, working 6.1 innings and allowing seven hits and five runs. She walked three and struck out eight. Walker came on in relief for the Titans to record her second win of the day, pitching the final four innings and allowing just two hits while striking out one.
 
Elmhurst plays at North Park University on Monday, April 17.
