ELMHURST, Ill. – The Elmhurst women's basketball team cruised to its seventh consecutive victory with a 100-69 win over Carroll University.
Elmhurst cracked the century mark for the second-consecutive game for the first time in school history. The 100 points scored in the victory was the fifth-highest total in Elmhurst history.

Carroll (1-16, 1-8 CCIW) grabbed an early 6-2 lead, but the Bluejays closed the final eight minutes of the first quarter on a 24-4 run to build a 16-point cushion (26-10) after one quarter. Elmhurst continued to pull away in the second, turning a 14-point lead into a 33-point lead with a 25-6 run over six minutes. The Bluejays led 58-29 at the half while shooting 23-of-33 (69.7 percent) from the floor in the game's opening 20 minutes.

It was more of the same in the second half as the Bluejays built a 36-point cushion in the third and quarter and carried a 79-47 lead into the fourth quarter. The Bluejays led by as many as 43 points before Carroll scored 12 straight to close the game to make the final score 100-69.

Elmhurst finished the contest shooting 54.4 percent (37-of-68) from the floor, including 45.5 percent (10-of-22) from three-point range. The Bluejays dominated on the glass, outrebounding Carrol 45-23 to finish +22 in rebounding margin. The Bluejays turned 18 offensive rebounds into 24 second-chance points in the win.

Ten different players put points on the scoreboard for Elmhurst with six finishing in double digits.
Mikaela Eppard finished with a team-leading 16 points and eight rebounds.
Kaela Jones and
Erika Johnson added 15 points apiece for Elmhurst while
Kalia Summerlin scored 11.
Lisa Logan and
Jasmin Bailey scored 10 points apiece while
Michaela Kumer tallied nine.

Carroll shot 41.8 percent (23-of-55) from the floor, but just 11.1 percent (1-of-9) from three-point distance. Brittney Wald and Morgan Lund combined to score 50 for the Pioneers. Wald led all scorers with 29 points while Lund totaled 11 for the Pioneers.

Elmhurst (15-3, 7-2 CCIW) looks for its eight-straight victory on Saturday, January 28, when the Bluejays host North Park at 2:00 p.m.
