ELMHURST, Ill. - The Elmhurst women's soccer team improved to 2-0 on the season following a 3-0 shutout win over Olivet College.
Elmhurst used three second-half goals to hand Olivet (1-1) its first loss of the season.Â
With the game scoreless early in the second half, the Bluejays used a pair of goals less than three minutes apart to take control of the contest.
Allie Kightly put the Bluejays on the scoreboard first with an unassisted goal in the 52nd minute. Less than three minutes later,
Kim Stanczak netted her third goal of the season off an assist from
Mady Rowedder to extend Elmhurst's lead to two goals.
Sidney O'Keeffe helped ice the game in the 84th minute. O'Keeffe scored her first goal of the season off assists from
Kristin Kelly and Stanczak to make the final score 3-0 for the Bluejays.
Elmhurst outshot the Comets 19-7 in the contest and the Bluejays enjoyed a 5-1 edge in corner kicks.
Emily Gordon stopped all four shots she faced in goal to record her first shutout of the season. Brooklyn Burel took the loss in net for Olivet, allowing three goals while recording five saves.
Elmhurst hosts Penn State-Behrend on Friday, September 9.Â
