ROCK ISLAND, Ill. - The Elmhurst women's basketball team outscored Augustana 22-12 in the fourth quarter to earn its first CCIW victory 66-61.
Michaela KumerTrailing by 10 with nine-and-a-half minutes to go, the Bluejays (7-6, 1-1 CCIW) outscored the Vikings (6-7, 1-1 CCIW) 20-5 the rest of the way.

Mikaela Eppard combined for 15 of the 20 points in the run. In the game, Kumer reached a career-high 16 points, while Eppard added 15 points and nine rebounds.
Mikaela EppardHannah Lipman scored the opening bucket of the game, but Elmhurst did not lead again until
Erika Johnson knocked down a jumper in the final seconds of the quarter. Augustanabounced back bystarting the second period with an 14-5 run to open up an eight-point cushion. Lipman knocked down a late Bluejay basket to cut the deficit to six (33-27) at the break.
The Vikings led for the entirety of the third quarter, including a nine-point advantage twice, but Lipman and
Annette Stidham scored the final four points of the quarter to cut the deficit to five. Early in the fourth, Augustana stretched out a game-high 10-point lead with seven straight points, but Kumer and Eppard led the Bluejay come back.
Elmhurst shot 43-percent from the field (23-of-54) and downtown (6-of-14) in the contest. The Bluejays were also solid from the free-throw stripe, 74-percent (14-of-19), and outscored the Vikings 14-7 at the foul line. The two teams finished even in rebounds (39-39) and turnovers (14-14).
For the Bluejays, Lipman and
Kaela Jones both tallied eight points to supplement Kumer and Eppard offensively.
Marissa Pezzopane led all scorers with 21 points and three blocks. Sadie Roberts added a spark off the bench with 11 points.
Elmhurst travels to Millikin this Saturday, January 9 for a 2:00 p.m. tip.
