ROSEMONT, Ill. – The Elmhurst softball team evened its CCIW record at 3-3 on the season by sweeping a doubleheader from 22nd-ranked Augustana College. The Bluejays scored a 6-5 walkoff win in game one and finished the sweep with a 3-1 victory in the night cap.

Elmhurst improved to 17-9 overall with the victories while Augustana slipped to 20-9-1 overall and 4-4 in the CCIW.

ELMHURST 5, AUGUSTANA 4 (Game One) – Elmhurst rallied for a pair of runs in the bottom of the seventh to score the walk-off 5-4 victory.

The Bluejays struck first, scoring a pair of runs in the fourth to break a scoreless tie.
Bella Masini doubled to drive home
Ele Walter and put the Bluejays on the scoreboard. One batter later,
Brianna Thompson roped a double down the left field line to score Masini and put the Bluejays in front 2-0.

Augustana broke through with four runs in the sixth to surge in front 4-2. Zayne Blumberg delivered the key blow in the inning, roping a two-run, pinch-hit double to put the Vikings in front 3-2. Laura Behnke followed with an RBI double to give the Vikings a two-run cushion.

Elmhurst cut the lead in half in the bottom of the sixth. Masini led off with a double down the left field line and
Meg Griffin followed with a run-scoring double to left.

Mikayla Melone doubled down the left field line to lead off the inning. Melone moved to second on a sacrifice bunt by
Alyssa Jasinski. Walter followed with a grounder to short that Ashley Klauss made a diving stop and threw home from her knees, but Augustana's catcher was called for obstruction, blocking the base path without the ball, allowing Melone to score on the play. Walter alertly took second on the play at the plate and moved to third on
Katie Boals ground out. On the very next play, Masini's sharply hit ground ball was second booted away, allowing Walter to score the game-winning run.

Masini and Walter finished with two hits apiece in the win. Both players scored twice while also driving in a run. Griffin and Thompson each drove in a run in the contest for the Bluejays.

Stefanie Sanidas made the start to took a no-decision, working six innings and allowing four hits and four runs while walking two and striking out three.
Stephanie Sturino picked up the victory in relief, pitching a scoreless seventh inning, to improve to 4-2 on the season.

Augustana's Kendra Rakers suffered the loss in relief, pitching 1.2 innings and allowing two hits and two runs (one earned) while striking out one.

ELMHURST 3, AUGUSTANA 1 (Game Two) – The Bluejays scored three runs early and made them stand up, finishing the sweep of the Vikings with a 3-1 victory in game two.
Elmhurst raced out to an early 3-0 lead with a run in the first and two in the third. Walter sparked the scoring in both innings with leadoff singles. She single up the middle in the first, stole second with two outs, and scored on Masini's RBI single. Walter bunted her way on board to lead off the third and moved to second on a sacrifice bunt. Masini tripled to center field to drive in Walter and Griffin dropped down a squeeze bunt to score Masini and give Elmhurst an early 3-0 cushion.

Ele WalterAugustana capitalized on an Elmhurst error in the fifth to score a run on Ashley Klauss' single. Elmhurst's defense came up with a pair of big plays in the final two innings.
Bri Getzloff gunned downed Chelsea Lavin trying to go from first to third on a single to the end the sixth inning. After Klauss led off the seventh with a single, the Bluejays turned a 6-4-3 double play to quickly erase the base runner and hold on for the 3-1 victory.

Masini and Walter continued to swing hot bats for the Bluejays as both finished with two hits in the win. Masini drove in two and scored a run while Walter scored twice for the Bluejays. Thompson also collected two hits in the victory for Elmhurst.

Boals picked up the win for the Bluejays, improving to 4-4 on the season. She worked four innings and allowed four hits and just one unearned run. Potthast recorded her first save of the season by finishing the final three innings and scattering just four hits while not allowing a run.
Ashley Anderson suffered the loss for the Vikings, falling to 7-4 overall. She allowed seven hits and three runs over seven innings while striking out two.
