BELOIT, Wis. - The Elmhurst softball team moved to 10-4 on the season after splitting a doubleheader at Beloit College. The Bluejays suffered a 4-2 walk-off loss in the opener, but bounced back to blank Beloit 8-0 in the night cap.
BELOIT 4, ELMHURST 2 (Game One) - Elmhurst led 2-0, but Beloit's Tala Cornell hit a three-run walk-off homer in the bottom of the seventh to give the Buccaneers the victory.
Elmhurst grabbed a 1-0 lead in the third when 
Ele Walter singled home 
Mikayla Melone. The Bluejays made it 2-0 in the sixth inning when 
Stephanie Hintz drove in 
Katie Boals with a ground out.
Beloit cut Elmhurst's lead in half in the bottom of the sixth. Mikayla Martin doubled home a run to put Beloit on the scoreboard.
The Buccaneers were down to the final out with the bases empty in the bottom of the seventh, but Taurie Burns singled and Jordyn Ciochron walked. Cornell followed with the two-out walk-off blast to hand Elmhurst just its third loss of the season.
Tiffany Potthast led Elmhurst's offense in the loss with three hits. Boals added two hits and scored a run for the Bluejays.
Boals suffered the loss, working 6.2 innings and allowing five hits and four runs. She walked two and struck out seven.,
ELMHURST 8, BELOIT 0 (Game Two) - Elmhurst bounced back from the game one loss to shutout Beloit 8-0 and salvage the doubleheader split.

Meg Griffin. Elmhurst broke the game wide open in the fifth by sending 10 batters to the plate and scoring six runs.

Alyssa Jasinski, 
Brianna Thompson, Boals and Melone each had an RBI single in the inning.
Walter singled home the Bluejays' final run in the seventh inning to make the final score 8-0.
The Bluejays outhit Beloit 15-6 in the second game. All nine Elmhurst starters finished with at least one hit in the victory.
Potthast earned the victory for Elmhurst, improving to 5-1 on the season in the process. She went the distance, allowing just six hits and one walk over seven innings while recording the shutout. She struck out three in the win.
Elmhurst hosts Benedictine University on Thursday, April 2, at Bandits Stadium in Rosemont.
