ROCK ISLAND, Ill. - The Elmhurst wrestling team slipped to 1-1 in CCIW dual meets after dropping a 32-11 dual at Augustana College.

Augustana (7-5) won seven of the 10 matches en route to the 21-point victory. The Vikings jumped on the board with an 8-0 advantage after a pair of major victories to open the dual. Jimmy Panozzo scored a 12-1 major decision over Elmhurst's Anthony Munoz at 125 pounds and Brendan Gould followed with an 8-0 major win over the Bluejays' Carter Beebe at 133 pounds.
 

Elmhurst pulled to within a point with wins at 141 pounds and 149 pounds. Matt Quigley edged Colin Tomkins 3-2 at 141 pounds to put the Bluejays on the scoreboard. Blake Santi followed with a 15-3 major decision over Matt Sears to bring Elmhurst to within a point at 8-7.

Augustana won the next four matches to put the dual meet out of reach. Hector Ruiz topped the Bluejays' Nick DiNardo 7-4 at 157 pounds. Connor Cummings scored a takedown in overtime to clip Elmhurst's Sergio Lopez 4-2 at 165 pounds. The Vikings used back-to-back pins to turn a seven-point lead into a 19-point cushion. Jordan Richardson pinned Elmhurst's Mitch Morris in 4:33 at 174 pounds and Thomas Reyhons pinned the Bluejays' Bobby Schillinger at 5:29 at 184 pounds.

Elmhurst snapped Augustana's winning streak at 197 pounds as Colton Kelly earned a 16-5 major decision over Christos Giatras at 197 pounds. The Vikings closed the dual meet at 285 pounds with Jack Seaman pinning the Bluejays' Zack Urbanski in 6:28.

Elmhurst travels to North Central College on Tuesday, February 10.
