Box Score ELMHURST, Ill. - Anna Garritano scored less than eight minutes into the contest to lead the Elmhurst women's soccer team to a 1-0 shutout win over Monmouth College.

Anna GarritanoGarritano netted her first goal of the season just 7:28 into the contest.
Kelly Fredericksen sent a cross through the left side of the box. The ball deflected slightly off a Monmouth player and came loose to Garritano. Garritano stepped around Monmouth keeper Nicole Neagle and tucked the ball inside the near post to give Elmhurst a 1-0 lead.
Monmouth (1-4) had a chance late in the first half to tie the score, but
Melinda Vickers made a diving save off Lauren Towler's shot with just 10 seconds left to play in the half.
Monmouth nearly missed the equalizer early in the second half. Emily Flint sent a 45-yard blast over the hands of Vickers, but off the football goal post and out of play. Elmhurst had a chance to extend their lead midway in the second half, but
Emily Heimerdinger's shot from 20 yards was right at Neagle.
The Bluejays managed to hold the Scots at bay for the duration of the contest to record their fourth consecutive win.
Elmhurst outshot Monmouth 13-9 in the contest. Neagle recorded seven saves for Monmouth while Vickers stopped five shots to earn the shutout in goal for the Bluejays.
Elmhurt travels to Marian University on September 17.Â
