Box Score ELMHURST, Ill. - Kelly Fredericksen's 81st minute goal proved to be the difference as the Bluejays scored their first win of the young season, a 1-0 victory over Bethel University (Minn.).

Anna Garritano played a corner kick short to Fredericksen who blasted a 25-yard shot past the outstretched hands of Bethel goalkeeper Micale Jensen and inside the near upper 90. 

Both teams had many chances throughout the first 80 minutes of play. Melinda Vickers recorded her first career shutout by stopping all seven shots she faced. Elmhurst outshot Bethel 16-13 in the contest. 

Elmhurst improves to 1-1 with the win, while Bethel drops to 0-1-1. 

Elmhurst will finish their season-opening homestand Friday, September 5 when they host Hope College at 5:00 p.m.
