ELMHURST, Ill. – The Elmhurst wrestling team scored pins in five matches en route to a 44-9 dual meet victory over Trine University.
 
Elmhurst (2-0) won seven of the eight contests wrestled with five victories coming by pin, including three in the first round, and one by technical fall.
 

Anthony Munoz opened the dual with a 14-10 decision over Trine's David Moore at 125 pounds. Munoz trailed 8-3 early in the second period but used a reversal and  a near fall to pull even at 8-8. Munoz scored a take down and another near fall to pull away for the victory.

Elmhurst's Mark Duda made short work of Fernando Bauzo at 133 pounds. Duda had Bauzo on his back just seconds into the match and pinned the Trine wrestler in 1:30. Matt Quigley scored a first-period takedown and then pinned Trine's Jeffrey Helm in the second period (3:30) at 141 pounds to stake Elmhurst to a 15-0 lead in the dual.

Blake Santi used takedowns and multiple near falls to score a 16-1, third-period, technical fall over Trinue's Tyler Willms at 149 pounds. At 157 pounds, Nick Brown needed just 2:50 seconds to pin Adam Bowles and give Elmhurst a 26-0 lead in the dual at the halfway point.
 
Nick DiNardo picked up an Elmhurst victory at 165 pounds by pinning Trine's JayCee Jensen just over a minute into the second period (4:11). Mitch Morris followed with an Elmhurst victory at 174 pounds. Morris scored the fastest pin of the night, needing just 1:16 to end his match with Trine's Kerry Raab. Elmhurst' s Bobby Schillinger earned a forfeit at 184 pounds to put Elmhurst in front 44-0.

Trine's Michael Connor earned a forfeit win at 197 pounds to give the Thunder their first points of the night. Trine's Mackenzie Green closed out the dual with a 4-0 win over Elmhurst's Zack Urbanski, making the final score 44-9 in favor of Elmhurst.
 
Elmhurst will compete at the Concordia University (Wis.) Open this Saturday, November 22.
