ELMHURST, Ill. - The Elmhurst women's soccer team recorded its second consecutive shutout by blanking Greenville College 3-0 at Langhorst Field.
Elmhurst upped its record to 2-0 on the season with the victory. The Bluejays opened the 2013 season on Friday with a 2-0 shutout win at Dominican.
The Bluejays controlled the tempo of the game from the start, outshooting Greenville 16-0 in the opening half and 24-5 for the entire contest.
Kristie Waugh broke a scoreless tie in the 21st minute when she collected a pass from Sydney Goushas and raced into the box and scored.
Elmhurst made it 2-0 12 minutes later when Emily Heimerdinger blasted home her first goal of the season off an assist from Sydney Goushas.
The Bluejays added one goal in the second half when Garritano took a long pass from Biba Beckwith and scored on a breakaway goal.
Emily Gordon and Olivia Schoch combined for the shutout in goal. Gordon played the first half and did not face a shot, while Schoch played the game's final 45 minutes and recorded two saves.
Elmhurst travels to Hope College on September 6.
