Box Score WHEATON, Ill. - The Elmhurst women's basketball team's 2012-13 season came to a close following a 70-50 loss at Wheaton College.
Entering the night tied for the fourth and final spot in the CCIW Tournament, the Bluejays came up short against the Thunder and North Central earned the final CCIW Tournament spot by defeating Millikin.
Wheaton (21-4, 11-3 CCIW) scored the game's first eight points and never looked back. The Bluejays closed to within four points early, but Wheaton used a 10-2 run to build a 12-point advantage just eight minutes into the contest. The Thunder led 32-20 at the half.
The Bluejays came as close as 10 points in the second half, but Wheaton used a 12-2 run to open up a commanding 20-point lead with eight minutes to play. The Thunder cruised the rest of the way to the 70-50 win.
Elmhurst's shooting woes continued as the Bluejays hit just 28.6 percent (18-of-63) of its shots, including just 11.8 percent (2-of-17) from downtown. Elmhurst won the battle on the glass, outrebounding Wheaton 43-39. The Bluejays grabbed 18 offensive rebounds to score 16 second-chance points.
Fiona McMahon led the Bluejays with 11 points and 10 rebounds to lead the Bluejays in the loss.

Devin Vaughn tallied seven points apiece for the Bluejays.
Wheaton finished the contest shooting 41.8 percent (23-of-55) from the field, including 50.0 percent (8-of-16) from beyond the arc. Brooke Olson led the Thunder with 17 points while Ellie Zeller came off the bench to finish with 17 points. Hannah Considine finished with eight for the Thunder.
