Box Score RIVER FOREST, Ill. - The Elmhurst women's basketball team upped its record to 3-0 after hammering Dominican University 86-47.
Elmhurst scored the game's opening bucket and never looked back, racing out to a 10-point lead just five minutes into the game. The Bluejays closed the half on a 34-14 run to take a 48-18 lead into the locker room at the half.
The Bluejays continued to dominate in the second half, building a 50-point advantage before cruising to the 39-point victory.
Elmhurst forced Dominican (0-3) into 27 turnovers, and turned the Stars' mistakes into 31 points.
The Bluejays shot 43.1 percent (31-of-72) from the floor. Elmhurst did the bulk of its damage in the paint, outscoring Dominican 59-20 in the lane. The Bluejays attempted just four three-pointer for the entire game.
Four players reached double figures to lead the Bluejays in the win.
Fiona McMahon powered Elmhurst with 17 points, 10 rebounds and four blocked shots while shooting 7-of-11 from the floor.
Melanie Schwerdtmann added 16 points on an 8-of-12 shooting night.
Devin Vaughn added 11 points and a team-leading five steals.
J'Taisha Bryant came off the bench to score 10 points and eight rebounds.
Hannah Lipman added eight points for the Bluejays while
Katie Swanson chipped in with six.
Dominican finished the game shooting 29.2 percent (14-of-48) from the floor. Katie Budz led the Stars in the loss with 19 points.
Elmhurst will travel to Beloit College on Saturday, November 23.
