Women's Soccer Team Closes Season With 4-1 Loss at Carthage

Box Score KENOSHA, Wis. - The Elmhurst women's soccer team closed the book on the 2013 season after falling to 4-1 to Carthage College.

Elmhurst wrapped up the season with an 8-9 overall record and a 2-5 mark in the CCIW. Carthage moved to 13-4 overall and 5-2 in league play with the victory.

Carthage jumped on the scoreboard just before the half as Corinne  Brennan blasted a shot in the upper corner of the net to put the Lady Reds on top 1-0 in the 41st minute.

Carthage took a 2-0 lead in the 61st minute when Rachel Post collected a pass from Sam Anderson and scored.

Elmhurst sliced the lead in half in the 68th minute when Courtney O'Keene netted her fourth goal of the season. Biba Beckwith sent a cross through the box that O'Keefe headed off the post and into the net.

Carthage regained a two-goal lead just six minutes later when Brennan pulled a Taylor Capek pass out of the air and volleyed it into the back of the net. The Lady Reds tacked on an insurance goal three minutes later when Alexis Fahlbeck scored off an assist from Jessica Socha.

Elmhurst outshot Carthage 15-14 in the contest and had a 3-2 edge in corner kicks.

Olivia Schoch took the loss in net for Elmhurst, surrendering four goals and recording three saves. Abby Alm earned the win for Carthage, finishing with one goal allowed and eight saves.
