Box Score ELMHURST, Ill. - The Elmhurst women's soccer team rallied but came up short in a 3-2 loss to North Park University.

Elmhurst slipped to 7-6 overall and 1-3 in the CCIW with the loss while North Park improved to 6-5-1 overall and 2-1 in the CCIW).

North Park got on the scoreboard 15:31 into the match when Anika Johnson banged home a rebound that had deflected off an Elmhurst player in front of the net..

The Viking's lead lasted only 14 seconds as the Bluejays quickly scored the equalizer. Kat Waugh ran down the near sideline and sent a cross directly in front of the net and Shelby Stone headed home the cross for her fourth goal of the season.

North Park went back on top in the 32nd minute when Johnson's low-line drive shot eluded Elmhurst keeper Emily Gordon and gave the Vikings a 2-1 lead.

Just 45 seconds later, the Vikings went up 3-1 by capitalizing on an Elmhurst turnover. A pass deflected off an Elmhurst defender and led to a breakaway goal for Emma Lundeen.

North Park held the 3-1 lead until the 87th minute when Alyssa Angelo headed home Jackie Belmonte's corner kick to slice the lead in half. The Bluejays could not come up with the tying goal in the final 3:30.

North Park outshot Elmhurst 22-10 in the contest.

Gordon recorded seven saves in net for the Bluejays while North Park's Paola Andrade did not have to stop a shot to earn the win.

Elmhurst hosts Millikin University on Saturday, October 19.
