Box Score BLOOMINGTON, Ill. - The Elmhurst women's basketball team slipped to 1-1 in CCIW play after suffering a 75-51 loss at Illinois Wesleyan University.
Elmhurst (7-6, 1-1 CCIW) led 13-12 early in the first half, but Illinois Wesleyan (8-5, 1-1 CCIW) ripped off a 17-4 run to open up a 12-point advantage and take control of the contest. The Bluejays trailed 36-26 at halftime.
Elmhurst pulled to within nine points early in the second half, but the Titans used a 31-13 run to blow the game open and cruise to the 27-point win. After shooting 45.5 percent (10-of-22) in the opening half, Elmhurst struggled in the game's final 20 minutes shooting just 32.3 percent (10-of-31) for the second half. The Bluejays finished the contest shooting 37.7 percent from the field (20-of-53), including 31.3 percent (5-of-16) from downtown.
Fiona McMahon led the Bluejays with a double-double, totaling 17 points and 12 rebounds. McMahon shot 7-of-9 from the floor and also blocked five shots.

Katie Swanson added six points apiece in the loss.
Illinois Wesleyan struggled in the opening half, shooting just 29.3 percent (12-of-41) from the floor. The Titans were red-hot from downtown, hitting 6-of-9 from the floor. The Titans picked up their shooting in the second half, hitting 53.3 percent (16-of-30) from the floor.
Melissa Gardner poured in 24 points (9-of-14) while Colleen McMahon added 20 points (8-of-12). Katy Seibring came off the bench to score 17.
Elmhurst hosts Millikin University on Wednesday, January 9.
