ROCK ISLAND, Ill. - The second-ranked Elmhurst wrestling team upped its dual meet record to 10-1 on the year by rolling over 27th-ranked Augustana College 31-11.

Elmhurst won seven of the 10 matches en route to the 20-point victory. The Bluejays won five of the last six matches to turn a two-point lead into a 20-point win.

Augustana (13-4) jumped out in front when fifth-ranked Jacob Scholten defeated Miguel Venecia 22-7 at 125 pounds. Elmhurst quickly surged in front when third-ranked Dalton Bullard pinned Jimmy Panozzo in 59 seconds to put the Bluejays on top 6-5. Fourth-ranked Ryan Earley gave the Bluejays a 10-5 lead with an 8-0 major decision over Augustana's Hector Ruiz at 141 pounds.

Augustana pulled to within two points after Walter Piech edged Jim Spangler 7-6 at 149 pounds. Nick DiNardo staked the Bluejays to a five-point lead with a 3-0 decision over Kevin Sundberg at 157 pounds. Yousef Al-Ghoul made the score 13-8 in favor of the Bluejays by toppling Connor Cummings 4-1 at 165 pounds. Tenth-ranked Danny Balderas held of a late takedown attempt from Matt Burns in the closing seconds to score a 7-6 victory at 174 pounds.

Top-ranked Joe Rau made short work of Thomas Reyhons at 184 pounds, pinning the Augustana grappler in 1:09. Fifth-ranked Mike Benefiel followed with a 52-second pin of Jake Melik at 197 pounds to give Elmhurst a 31-8 cushion. Augustana's John Schraidt closed out the dual with a 6-4 win over Jack Lewis at 285 pounds.

Elmhurst competes at the Pete Wilson Invitational this weekend (February 1-2).
