Box Score CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa - The Elmhurst women's basketball team suffered its first loss of the season after dropping a 56-51 contest at Coe College.
Elmhurst (2-1) trailed by as many as 15 points in the first half and was behind 35-23 at halftime. The Bluejays rallied on several occasions in the second half, closing to within five points with 13:47 left to play. Coe pushed its lead back to 10 points only to watch the Bluejays slash it back down to five with two minutes left to play.
The Bluejays had several chances to slice further into the lead, but the Bluejays missed their final five shots of the game as Coe hung on for the 56-51 victory.
Elmhurst struggled with its shooting, hitting only 34.4 percent (22-of-64) of its shots. The Bluejays were cold from beyond the arc, hitting only 3-of-17 attempts (17.6 percent) from downtown.
Coe finished the contest shooting 43.8 percent (21-of-48) from the floor. The Kohawks missed all five of their three-point attempts, but shot 70.0 percent (14-of-20) from the free throw line.
Tess Godhardt led Elmhurst in the loss, totaling 18 points and seven rebounds. 
Fiona McMahon added a double-double with 14 points and 12 rebounds. 
Kim Schwerdtmann scored seven points and 
Karen Senette added six points and six assists for the Bluejays.
Mary Halvorson came off the bench to record a double-double with 17 points and 11 rebounds and pace Coe in the win. Kayla Waskow finished with 13 points, nine rebounds, and six assists while Caitlin Kray totaled 10 points.
Elmhurst hosts Washington University on Saturday, December 1.
