Women's Hoops Team Runs Past MSOE

Box Score ELMHURST, Ill. - The Elmhurst women's basketball team upped its record to 2-0 on the season with a dominating 79-35 win over the Milwaukee School of Engineering.

Elmhurst scored the game's first 13 points and MSOE (0-2) went with out a bucket for the opening 5:30 of the contest.  The Bluejays raced out to a 43-14 lead at halftime and pulled away in the second half to earn the 44-point victory.

For the second straight contest, Elmhurst took advantage of its opponents mistakes. The Bluejays converted 25 MSOE turnovers into 31 points. Elmhurst had a strong showing under the basket, outscoring MSOE 42-22 in the paint. The Bluejays also scored 22 points on the fast break.

Elmhurst shot 58.5 percent (31-of-53) from the floor, including 37.5 percent (6-of-16) from beyond the arc. MSOE finished the contest shooting only 28.6 percent (12-of-42) from the floor. The Raiders hit 1-of-3 attempts from three-point range. Elmhurst also controlled the glass, outrebounding the Raider 34-26.

Kim Schwerdtmann led Elmhurst in the win with 15 points, shooting 7-of-11 from the floor. She added four rebounds, four steals and four assists for the Bluejays. Fiona McMahon added 13 points and game-high nine rebounds while shooting a perfect 5-of-5 from the floor. Stephanie Mitchell came off the bench to score 10 for Elmhurst. Tess Godhardt. added nine points while Katie Swanson splashed home three shots from downtown to also total nine. In total, 12 different Bluejays scored in the victory.

MSOE was led by Megan Kroll's 13 points and six rebounds. Cate Schofield came off the bench to score nine points for the Raiders.

Elmhurst travels to Coe College on Tuesday (November 20).
