Box Score ELMHURST, Ill. - A howling wind and driving rain storm couldn't slow the Elmhurst women's soccer team as the Bluejays improved to 7-4-2 on the season with a 3-1 victory over Dominican University.
Elmhurst wasted little time jumping on the scoreboard as the Bluejays grabbed a 1-0 lead in the eighth minute of a play. After an Elmhurst shot was saved,
Alyssa Angelo chipped the rebound in front of the net where
Katie Baschen volleyed home the goal to stake the Bluejays to a 1-0 lead.
The Bluejays made the one goal lead stand up through the opening half, taking a one-goal lead into halftime. In the second half the wind picked up and the skies opened up with rain, but two goals in a five minute span helped put the game away for the Bluejays.

Ali Siebel sent a long pass to just outside of the box.
Amy Baschen headed the ball into the box to an open
Shannon Pimmel and Pimmel found the back of the net to give Elmhurst a two-goal cushion.
Less than five minutes later,
Samantha Perry boomed a 30-yard strike into the top of the net just over the hands of Dominican keeper Sara Stepanovich to put Elmhurst on top 3-0.
Dominican's Kelly Petty scored an unassisted goal with less than a minute to play to make the final score 3-1 in favor of the Bluejays.
Elmhurst outshot Dominican (7-7-0) 18-10 in the contest and had a 7-1 edge in corner kick opportunities.
Maddie Fitzpatrick made the start for Elmhurst and stopped three shots while not allowing a goal.
Joelle Kaupu finished up in net for Elmhurst and allowed one goal. Stepanovich stopped eight shots in goal for Dominican.
Elmhurst travels to Wheaton College on Saturday.
