Box Score ELMHURST, Ill. - The Elmhurst women's soccer team closed out the 2012 season with a 3-2 loss to Augustana College.
Elmhurst (8-6-3, 1-4-2 CCIW) had a pair of one-goal leads, but Augustana (15-3, 7-0 CCIW) closed the match with two straight goals to score the win.
Elmhurst jumped on the scoreboard in the 11th minute when
Amy Baschen's shot was saved by Augustana's Meredith Chew, but Baschen collected the rebound and knocked home the goal to put Elmhurst up 1-0.
The Bluejays led 1-0 at the break, but Augustana's Amanda Tucker headed home a pass from Kelly Farrell in the 61st minute to even the score.
The tie was short lived as Jordan Clark took an
Emily Heimerdinger pass and blasted home a goal into the top of the net from 25 yards out in the 69th minute.
Augustana used a pair of breakaway goals in the game's final 13 minutes to earn the wi.
Taylor Moesle collected a long pass from Jessica Kras and scored on a breakaway in the 78th minute to knot the score at 2-2.
Eight minutes later, Farrell collected a pass from Moesle and raced down the middle of the field into the box and scored the game winner with just 4:52 left on the clock.
Maddie Fitzpatrick recorded eight saves in goal for Elmhurst while taking the loss while Augustana's Chew stopped 10 shots.
Augustana outshot Elmhurst 20-17 in the contest.
