Box Score CHICAGO, Ill. - The Elmhurst women's soccer team's CCIW Tournament chances took a substantial hit as the Bluejays suffered a 2-0 loss at North Park University.
Despite outshooting the Vikings 12-9 in the contest, Elmhurst was left still searching for its first conference victor, falling to 0-3-2 in league play and 7-5-3 overall. After starting the year with a 6-1-1 record, the Bluejays are just 1-4-2 in their last seven contests.
After a scoreless first half, North Park's Katrina Dekirmendjian broke the tie and staked the Vikings to a 1-0 lead in the 55th minute with an unassisted strike to the top left corner of the goal.
North Park tacked on an insurance goal in the 72nd minute when Rebekah Marquez scored on a rebound off a corner kick from Dekirmendjian and a shot from Viviana Preciado.
Battling the wind and rain, Elmhurst outshot the Vikings 8-3 in the opening half, but North Park had a 6-4 shots advantage in the second half.
Maddie Fitzpatrick took the loss in goal for Elmhurst, surrendering two goals and recording five saves. North Park's Katie Ibarra registered the shutout, stopping all thre shots she faced.
With just two points in the CCIW standings (one for each tie), the Bluejays are currently tied for seventh-place with just two contests left to play. The Bluejays are still alive for the fourth and final spot in the CCIW Tournament but will need help to reach the tournament for the second straight year.
Elmhurst travels to Millikin University this Saturday (October 20).
